More than 50 Perth communities have been affected by approval decisions of the Development Assessment Panels (DAP), the State Administrative Tribunal (SAT), the MRA and the WA Planning Commission (WAPC).
#ScraptheDAP is a State election issue. Perth infill backlash was ignored by the Barnett Government. In 2017, the Barnett Government was soundly beaten at the ballot box, especially the Minister for Planning, John Day, who lost his seat in Kalamunda. His role in the introduction of the DAP and other regulations to side line councils were well known to the electors of Kalamunda!
There is an oversupply of flats in Perth (2017), yet the State Government continues to force infill into the established suburbs of Perth.
Led by John Carey, former Mayor of Vincent and now Labor MLC for Perth, there are now more than 15 councils which have passed an in principle motion to “Abolish the DAP“.
WALGA are also in support of #ScraptheDAP.
